Case study
Client Name: Sense Deafblind Group
Project Value: £200,000
Project Duration: 12 weeks
Sense Group, Swindon operates as a large retail unit dedicated to the sorting, processing and sale of donated items. Hollmark was appointed to fit out the premises, converting it from an empty shell to a fully operating storage facility including a preparation room, restrooms, changing facilities and till space, in addition to the main warehouse storage area. Services such as Electrical power and lighting,
electric heating, air conditioning and plumbing were provided throughout.
Installation of shop and warehouse lighting including LED Panels
Installation of phone and data points
Installation of fans, hand dryers, speakers and doorbells
Installation of shop fittings and signage
Fire alarm installation
Supply and installation of FD30 fire doors to new openings
Kitchen and desk installation within office and staff preparation areas
Structural works including internal partitions, structural beams, suspended ceiling grids, and ceiling overlays
Plumbing works, including cold water pipework to serve toilet pans, sinks and kitchen areas, installation of waste pipework, and formation of new toilet facilities
Time constraints – Once the client took possession of the premises, the works had to be completed within 12 weeks to enable Sense to begin trading. Due to the height of the unit, specialist access equipment such as scissor lifts and Cherry Pickers was necessary for execution of various elements of the works.
The absence of an incoming power supply at the time of possession required liaison with the local electricity provider, which took longer than anticipated. As a result, increased pressure was placed on the programme, requiring Hollmark to operate to a strict works schedule.
