Atlantic Square is an office complex of two-story, terraced office blocks, arranged around a central landscaped garden and pond. Individual units are self-contained, completed with a kitchen and W/C facilities. The East of England Ambulance service’s headquarters are found on this site, where this large-scale refurbishment took place.

Onsite challenges

Client Occupation Mid-Project – Midway through the works, the client requested temporary access to several rooms, to accommodate for a large-scale interviewing and recruitment process. This meant that Hollmark had to be adaptable and flexible to adjust project sequencing to meet the clients unexpected needs. Problem solving skills were required to find practical solutions to provide temporary access without compromising safety, security, or progress.

Required to make all unfinished areas clean, safe and presentable – This was for a one-month period, before regaining full access to complete this project. To facilitate this, many areas were boarded up and decorated to ensure the site appeared aesthetically pleasing and safe for temporary occupation. This unexpected change required careful coordination, flexibility and prompt implementation of interim finishes.

Initial Scope

  • Preparing the existing office block to accommodate new staff members

  • Installation of air conditioning systems

  • Upgrading Security and CCTV – access control and video entry

  • Upgrading fire alarm systems to improve compliance

  • Up to date electrical circuit and surge protection

  • DDA compliant corridors to improve accessibility
