London Metropolitan Case Study

LONDON METROPOLITAN

UNIVERSITY

Project Brief

London Metropolitan University is a Grade II listed building. Due to tunnelling works being carried out by Crossrail, the vibrations emitting through the building has caused damage to the ceilings. Our brief was to provide ceiling protection to prevent plaster and masonry from falling and potentially harming people walking below.

SCHEME PROPOSAL

Our client required for us to strip out the existing ceiling grids, install safety netting and plasterboard protection using specialist fixings and then re-instate ductwork, lighting and ceiling grids.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

As the building is ‘listed’, we had to adhere to strict working practices and maintain existing period features where necessary. Due to the nature of work and high footfall throughout the University, the majority of these works had to be carried out during the night.

DELIVERY

Our Project Manager, Graham was on site for the full duration of the project and all works were undertaken under the instruction and overall management of McDonald Brown Ltd.
