It was identified that the student nurse accommodation required major refurbishment to bring it up to date and in line with the standards of the rest of the hospital.

DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

The hospital required that five bedrooms, kitchen, store room and a communal corridor were stripped out and fully refurbished along with the creation of two shower rooms. Flooring was a combination of carpet in the bedrooms and polysafe vinyl in other areas. The lighting was also upgraded to LED bulkheads for a maintenance free economical installation. The decoration had a modern upbeat feel to it with individually bright coloured bedroom doors and matching feature wall.

The rooms were situated near other student accommodation (day &night shifts) and this had to be taken into consideration when performing any noisy or disruptive works. This also included the control of dust and waste.

Chris, our project manager was on site for the duration of the project overseeing as well as being hands. He liaised between the hospital estates team the accommodation staff and the Hollmark team to ensure there was a safe, tidy site and a project that ran as smoothly as possible finishing on time.
